I have trained as a ZUMBA® Fitness instructor and have been teaching youth and adult classes since early 2013. While I am not currently teaching a regular class, I am available to lead specialty faith-based dance fitness workshops, as well as creative movement classes for children. As a dance minister, I have also taught children’s creative movement, worship dance and flagging.
My mission is to build others up in their emotional and spiritual health, while providing high quality dance fitness routines that work the full body. While pointing my students to our loving Creator God as their source of life, my goal is to foster an upbeat, inclusive environment where people of all fitness levels and spiritual backgrounds feel welcome and leave uplifted.
With my adult/youth fitness classes, I choose to use a variety of music including upbeat Latin songs, Christian pop/rock, and current radio hits that have a positive message. I take time to break down individual dance steps, including beginner moves from hip hop, salsa, cumbia, reggaeton, top rock, jazz, swing, line dance, etc. I also like to mix it up a bit by incorporating hand-held flags into some routines, and doing circle dances where we can really engage with each other. The classes begin with a group prayer (where prayer requests are welcomed), followed by a warm-up, and end with a meditative cool-down. In between you will sweat and work your full body, while being given various options to work at the level you are comfortable with.
